Largo Bay Sailing Club Regatta
When?
5th and 6th of July.
What’s it all about?
Every year around the end of June, begining of July we hold our open Reggatta. Over the course of a weekend we open the club up to any class of dinghy that wants to come and race and socialise. In days gone by that could be as much as 120 boats (so they say) but more recently it’s been in the region of 20 to 35 boats.
And they come from all over the country. Last year we had someone travel up from Cowes on the Isle of White.
Who’s comming this year?
Confirmed classes are the Enterprises and Lasers (ILCA).
So what does it involve?
It does take a significant amount of time and effort to run these events. And your support would be appreciated.
Out on the water there is the committee boat running the races with 4 or 5 people aboard.
3 or 4 ribs with a helm and crew to act as safety cover and move race marks as conditons change.
Beach crew to help launch and recover boats
Galley to provide tea/coffe/bacon rolls. BBQ on the Saturday night.
BBQ is open to anyone, not just competirors.
So, how can you help?
Provide your time. It doesn’t have to be the whole weekend. Just what you can manage as every bit helps. Juniors are more than welcome as well.
